Citing information published by the “Europe 1” website, France could deliver six additional CAESAR 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. Currently, six CAESAR are already used by the Ukrainian army to fight the Russian troops deployed in Ukraine.
The French CAESAR 155mm self-propelled howitzers are used by the Ukrainian army in the Donbas region. The first howitzers arrived in Ukraine in April this year. The second batch of six French CAESARs could be delivered by end of June 2022.
Citing information published by the Ukrainian ministry of defense the CAESAR 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers donated by France have already shown their effectiveness and were used by Ukrainian soldiers to destroy two Russian tanks, two BMD airborne infantry fighting vehicles, and trucks.
Accord our sources, the CAESAR 155mm self-propelled howitzers donated to Ukraine come from the military inventory of the French army and will be replaced by a new version of the howitzer called CAESAR NG (New Generation).
The CAESAR is a truck-mounted self-propelled howitzer full designed and developed by the French company Nexter Systems. It can be based on 6×6 or 8×8 military truck chassis, but the version delivered to Ukraine is based on a 6×6 ARQUUS military truck chassis and is armed with a 155 mm 52 caliber cannon mounted at the rear of the truck chassis.
