The Army Arms and Ammunition Factory (FAME S.A.C.) has delivered a first batch of 700 ARAD-5 assault rifles (5.56×45 mm) to the Ministry of the Interior, for the benefit of the end user, the Peruvian National Police (PNP).
Referring to this first delivery of ARAD-5 rifles, the general manager of FAME, Jorge Zapata Vargas, commented: “This is a first objective fulfilled with our Police and reflects our ability to respond to security challenges with state-of-the-art technology and international standards. The ARAD-5 rifle is a strategic ally for the National Police in its fight for citizen peace and we are proud to contribute to the renewal of police weaponry after decades.”
At the beginning of last February, the Ministry of the Interior of Peru approved the acquisition of a total of 7,323 ARAD-5 rifles from FAME under the order modality, within the framework of the public investment project called Acquisition of assault rifle in the Directorate of Administration – Logistics Division – Department of Weapons of the National Police of Peru in the town of Rímac (District of Rímac, Lima Province, Lima Department).
The agreed cost amounts to approximately 89.78 million soles (approximately 24.56 million dollars).
