Nicaragua; Cyber defense training contract awarded to Russian company

Representatives of Nicaragua and Russia signed a bilateral cooperation agreement for cybersecurity training.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Nicaraguan capital, by the executive president of the Nicaraguan Institute of Telecommunications and Postal Services (Telcor), Nahima Janett Díaz Flores, and a representative of the Russian company Rostelecom Solar.

The presidential advisor for the promotion of investment, trade and international cooperation of Nicaragua and special representative of the president for affairs with Russia, Laureano Ortega Murillo, and the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, Oleg Khramov, participated as witnesses at the signing.

In addition, the official stressed that the two-day meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will strengthen these relations, and establish a joint action plan on information security and training of specialists.

For his part, the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, Oleg Khramov, declared that the agreement will allow “to take another step forward to ensure the well-being and prosperity of both peoples”.

In September of last year, a Nicaraguan delegation, led by Ortega Murillo, met in Moscow with the secretary of the Russian Security Council, General Sergey Shoygu, in order to strengthen security relations.
