The Royal Navy has procured more than 1,500 Sig Sauer MCX rifles, equipping its Royal Marines for specialized operations, including counter-terrorism efforts. This significant purchase is part of a broader £6 million investment in the UK Commando Force, facilitated by Edgar Brothers. The new rifles will replace the Colt Canada-produced rifles previously used by the Commando Force, further enhancing the specialized capabilities of this elite unit.
Designed to complement the Royal Marines’ newly introduced general use weapon, the Knights Armament Stoner 1 (KS-1), the Sig MCX represents a vital step in the transformation of the UK Commando Force. This transformation aims to provide the force with the operational advantage needed for global Special Operations. The MCX rifle’s versatility and performance make it an ideal choice for the demanding and varied environments in which the Royal Marines operate, from counter-terrorism to other high-stakes military operations.
