According to a press release published on the company’s website, the sale of the SERO 250S exceeds five million euros and is the second order for this periscope model made by the institution.

Chilean submarines had periscopes of the SERO 40 Stab type manufactured by Carl Zeiss, today Hensoldt, and the new SERO 250S provides these units for the first time night vision capability contributing to digitalization and the extension of their useful life.

Features of the SERO 250S

It is equipped with high-performance optics, TV camera with Low Light Level (LLL) capability, eye-safe laser rangefinder, IR camera sensor module for night and day vision, dual-axis line-of-sight stabilization, modular design and tip interface for communications antennas or electronic support measures (ESM).

The periscope provides video signals for parallel observation in the submarine’s command and control system or with a separate console. The operator receives the images on a compact display in the eyebox mounted under the reticles for direct view and this self-contained unit includes tools for system configurations, camera displays, lens information, system status and communication.
